ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ

My name is Ty, and I graduated from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology with a degree in World Business. I joined ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ as a participant in the Banking Talent Program (BTP) launched by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and partnering banks. My six-month BTP experience was spent with Group Functions - Group Investigations, and I am currently with the Investment Bank - Global Markets.

This was a great introduction to the banking industry, which is exactly what I had in mind when I applied. As a fresh graduate without any banking experience, I was keen to develop a strong fundamental understanding of the industry, that could potentially serve as a springboard into a longer-term career in banking. This is exactly what ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ has provided.

Prior to joining, I never expected to receive the level of exposure to senior members of the organization that I enjoyed throughout the program. I found that these opportunities to glean insight into the bank’s culture were among the most valuable and interesting aspects of my experience.

ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ provides a tremendous amount of support to its employees. I’m particularly grateful for the support I’ve received in exploring longer term career opportunities. My colleagues not only encouraged me to explore my intrigue in different areas of the bank, but they helped me seek out and explore new experiences opportunities. This ultimately helped me secure an extension in a new division within the bank.

A key differentiating factor of this program at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ is its structure. I found that BTP at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ provides a sound balance between internal training and on-the-job learning. By offering constant support, it allows participants to truly make the most of their time with ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ.

The most rewarding aspect of my experience has been the people. I’m very fortunate to have met other employees from various areas of the bank who are all incredibly knowledgeable, willing to help, and generally fun to be around.
